Social & Emotional Learning
St Michael’s uses the URSTRONG Friendology curriculum to enhance the social and emotional learning and well-being of children. Friendology teaches the children a common language for confidently managing conflict and creating a culture of respect and kindness.
It strives to empower children with the skills and self-confidence to develop healthier relationships.
These important social skills are the key to bullying prevention, creating safe, caring learning environments, and inspiring kinder, happier children. Social and emotional learning is about learning how to manage feelings, manage friendships and solve problems. These essential life skills support wellbeing and positive mental health and promote children’s ability to cope with difficulties and help prevent mental health problems. Children who have developed social and emotional skills find it easier to manage themselves, relate to others, resolve conflict, and feel positive about themselves and the world around them.
